Dr. Goodluck Massawe works as an Assistant Lecturer with the Department of Policy, Planning and Management at Sokoine University of Agriculture.

He teaches several undergraduate courses ranging from Theories and Principles of Development, Natural Resources Management, Rural Development Planning and Science, Technology and Agrarian Development.

Before joining Sokoine University of Agriculture, he worked for six years as a Livestock Research Officer with the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute. During this period, he performed other administrative tasks such as; heading the Institutes’ Social-economic Department and serving as the Institutes’ Planning and Budgeting Officer. 

 

He once worked as Child Ministry Project Director under the partnership of Compassion International-Tanzania and Kondoa Lutheran Church. His duties were to prepare a semesterised project plans & budgets, managing and supervising all project activities.  

Goodluck completed his PhD studies from University College Dublin in Ireland Republic. His PhD thesis is on ‘Farming Systems and Household Food Security’. In addition to his PhD training, Goodluck holds the following academic qualifications:

Master of Development Practice with specialisation in Planning for Social Development from the University of Queensland in Australia; Postgraduate Diploma in Poverty Analysis from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Hague, Netherland; Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania; and Certificate in Livestock Production Systems from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Goodluck has a strong research interest in the areas of food security, faming systems, livelihood and poverty analysis, and natural resources management.
